  "yogaberlin" is a group of certified teachers who teach Hatha Yoga according to the method of B.K.S. Iyengar.
We are independent and teach our classes in different parts of Berlin.
If you are interested in joining a class, please check under "Termine" (schedules) for details of times and locations.
You are welcome to join any of these classes on a drop-in basis. We all speak English, so don't hesitate to call us or just show up with comfortable clothing. Beginners please call ahead. Please don't eat for two hours before class.
Yoga mats and blankets are provided. You can contact the individual teachers featured on their pages, or you can obtain further information by emailing us at info@yogaberlin.de.
We also conduct retreats and workshops, sometimes with international teachers, in various locations. Please contact individual "yogaberlin" teachers for more detailed information.

what is yoga?
 
Early documentation indicates that Yoga has been practiced for over 2000 years to advance spiritual growth. Today Hatha (physical) yoga is practiced by millions of people, mostly in the form of physical exercise, in order to promote physical and spiritual health. The exercises affect musculature, joints and organs, as well as the nervous and hormone systems. Strength, balance, co-ordination, endurance and body awareness are improved, resulting in an overall healthier state of being.

Throughout its history, Yoga was influenced by several masters. Today, the name B.K.S. Iyengar is among the best known. The 83 year old lives in Puna, India, where he and his two children operate the internationally known Iyengar Yoga Institute (RIMYI).
The Iyengar method focuses on physical exercises (asanas) and breathing techniques (pranayama). Mr. Iyengar thoroughly re-worked the original exercises with western understanding of anatomy and physiology, so that today Yoga is instructed with a precise and understandable methodology.
